Cheap Flights To Las Vegas

Nineteen of the twenty five largest hotels in the world can be found on the Las Vegas strip (that’s by number of rooms rather than overall size), all of them are casino complexes as well as hotels, and many of them offer extra things to see and do as well some of them aimed at the foot traffic that goes past their door.

Outside the Mirage for example, every night on the hour from 5pm till 11pm, an artificial volcano ‘erupts’ spewing pina colada scented smoke into the night air. The fountains of Bellagio outside the Bellagio hotel and casino, is a magical show of lights, music and water that can be watched every few minutes throughout the evening.

For people who don’t want to walk along the strip, there’s the Las Vegas monorail that runs almost 4 miles of the strip along the east side, from Tropical Avenue to Sahara Road. It takes about 15 minutes to travel its full length.

Putting aside the gambling for a moment, Las Vegas has a lot more that it can offer people. Virtually every hotel has shows on a nightly basis, from dancing girls to musicals and variety shows. See the Chipendales or Sin City Bad Girls perform, listen to good music, or even watch a magic show performed by one of the worlds great magicians such as Penn and Teller, or David Copperfield.

The Las Vegas space flights offer people the chance to experience what it might be like in outer space. A specially designed Boeing 727 takes them up into the air and then performs various moves that allow people to feel the effects of a real space flight including weightlessness. It only lasts a few minutes, but is something you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

The Stratosphere Towers in Las Vegas is the tallest free standing observation tower in America – ok technically it is a casino and hotel as well, but it’s the view from the top and other activities there which may reeeally excite you. The viewing platforms at the top let you see not just Las Vegas, but also the surrounding area including mountains and desert. There is a restaurant here known as ‘top of the world’ which revolves, and also three thrill rides.

Big shot which is a reverse bungee jump that shoots you 160 feet into the air at 45 miles per hour. Insanity which dangles you over the edge of the tower and then spins in a circle at about 40 miles per hour, and Skyjump which is a controlled descent bungee jump like ride that lets you plummet 855 feet attached to a high speed descent wire.

Other nearby sights to see, and places of interest to visit, include Madame Tussauds, the Fashion Show Mall, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area, and Mount Charleston.

Flying to Vegas doesn’t have to be expensive, and lots of cheap flights to Las Vegas can be found through netflights.com who work with all the major airlines and some minor ones to offer you the best deals possible. You can arrange a simple flight, or a whole holiday including hotel and other costs.

5 Reasons to Take a Ski Trip in the French Southern Alps

Ah, the amazing Alps. From their snow-capped splendour we have squeezed the only suitable adjective to describe mountains of their calibre: alpine. In fact, downhill skiing is often referred to as “alpine skiing”, as much of the earliest downhill skiing was done in the European Alps.

The Alps range cuts across Central Europe, making a wide berth through south-eastern France near its borders with Austria and Italy. Skiing has been a popular pastime in the French Alps for decades and there are literally hundreds of fantastic ski resorts littered all over the region for skiers to choose from.

So, why take a ski trip in the French Alps?

Great selection.
Within the French Alps are some of the best selection of resorts, chalets, hotels and ski areas in all of Europe. No matter what level of skier you are, you will have your choice from among the best slopes on the Continent.

Advanced skiers will love very challenging slopes at French ski resorts like Les Grands Montets in Chamonix Valley, which boasts the most vertical mountain in France and an incredibly long season of glacial skiing each year. Conversely, if you are a beginner skier or just prefer a less challenging ski environment, you will enjoy the gentles slopes at resorts like Isola 2000.

French Southern Alps

Excellent snow.
The French Alps offer some of the highest skiing in Europe. The aforementioned resort, Chamonix, has one of the longest seasons because it is situated on a glacier. Likewise, Mont Blanc is France’s highest ski town at 3,840 metres. The height and vertical space of these mountains create great conditions for good, skiable snow and the least icy conditions.

Laid back atmosphere.
In contrast to most of their European neighbours, the French are not uptight skiers. They prefer a laid back skiing environment with a relaxed atmosphere, and this is what pervades most of the Southern French Alpine ski resorts. Plus, the general demeanour of French culture is concentrated on enjoying life, which means there is less of a premium on advanced or very technical skiing and more of a focus on simple enjoyment of the sport.

Beautiful accommodations.
The hotels, chalets and apartments on offer in the French Alps are, undoubtedly, among the most beautiful ski accommodations in the world. Here, you can take your choice from an upscale traditional hotel room, an idyllic mountain chalet or a fully featured alpine apartment that will allow you to self-cater.

French Southern Alps Flowers

Apres ski.
This French phrase can be literally translated as “after ski” and refers to the tradition of enjoying a few cocktails or beers in a relaxing, lively atmosphere after a long day on the slopes. The French are famous for this post-skiing drinking session and insist that it relaxes the muscles and solidifies the skier’s true enjoyment of the mountain environment and the sport of skiing.

Whatever you believe about apres ski, it is definitely a wonderful tradition in which to partake during your French ski holidays and, perhaps for some, the most compelling reason to ski in France!

5 of the Best Red Wine Tour Routes in Italy

If you are planning a trip to Italy this year and looking to take in some wine tasting, here is a handy guide that you may find useful. As with most things in life, opinions vary, but from our perspective this is Wine Tasting at its best!

1) Chianti Classico wine tour
The name alone sounds smooth and sophisticated and Chianti Classico is truly one of the best red wines that Italy has to offer. What’s more it is made in the scenic area of Tuscany where you will find incredible panoramas in every direction. The wine tours often depart from the beautiful cultural city of Florence, a national treasure in itself, and aim to fit in two wineries in a day. For instance you could try some bottles of the famous Riserva and then move on to the heady delights of the IGT Super Tuscan.

Arriving at the San Casciano winery in the AM, you will be amazed at the play of the morning light on the rolling hills around. Tasting the wines usually means just that and if you spit them out then you can drive yourself without problems. If you prefer to drink the wine then an organised tour may be better for you. Chianti Classico is made from the Sangioviese grape.

2) Montepulciano wine tour
Another distinct grape, another distinct Italian town. Because there is a chance to taste this rich, reddish brown wine first thing in the morning it will make the afternoon walk through the medieval streets of Montepulciano all the more enjoyable.

Afterwards you get an insight into how this special wine is made with a guided tour and some explanations about the local viticulture processes.

3) Montalcino wine tour
Similar sounding but quite unique. This one is a real collector’s item so consider investing in some wine when you take your tour here. The Montalcino wine is made by Brunellodi Montalcino and he has created one of the few DOCG wines which are prized by collectors for their depth of flavour and tasty tannins.

By law the wine must be aged for four years before it is sold. Another great advantage of the way that the wine is made is that it will last for at least 10 years so there is no rush to drink it.

4) Valpolicella wine tour
Located near to Romeo and Juliet’s Verona, the Valpolicella wine is sure to bring out the romantic in you. This red wine tastes as good as it sounds and it is made from a variety of grapes which are unique to the region. Indeed Valpolicella means ‘The Valley of Cellars’ so there is no limit to how much time you could spend here. Try visiting the cellar at Accordini which is in the village at Pedemonte for some unforgettable wine tasting.

5) Barolo wine tour
Barolo’s picturesque villages are home to an array of vineyards which produce this DOCG wine. To get here you will leave from Milan, either with your own transport or as part of an organised tour. There are numerous wineries here to try including the famous Serralunga cellar. Allow a whole day to see the best wineries and enjoy Barolo itself.

City Breaks: London vs. Dublin

There are worse things in life than to be faced with the choice between visiting the illustrious Irish capital city, Dublin and the UK’s cultural mecca, London. Both cities offer a range of wonderful cultural attractions, such as museums, theatre and art, as well as great nightlife, pubs, restaurants and side trips. The two cities are also relatively near to one another and enjoy similar mild weather, which for some people, can only further confuse the matter of which city to visit.

Reasons to Visit London
There’s no doubt that, in many people’s minds, London is one of the world’s ultimate cities. It is large but culturally rich and old with plenty of unique neighbourhoods and some of the world’s best museums. In fact, it would seem that there are very few reasons not to visit London at least once in your life.

A trip to London is great for city lovers who are seeking a cosmopolitan urban experience or a weekend city break. Art fanatics can take advantage of London’s many cultural institutions, such as the renowned Tate Modern and the venerable National Gallery, which houses dozens of the world’s most beloved historic paintings and sculptures.

London is also a great choice for theatre buffs, as it is the world’s home of live and musical theatre. The West End is the city’s main theatre district and constantly offers a running stock of famous shows like Les Miserables and Cats. The list of restaurant choices in London matches the great theatre and cultural experiences on offer here, both in number and quality, so you will never miss a fantastic meal.

Reasons to Visit Dublin
For many, Dublin is a friendlier and more accessible city than London, for it is much smaller and, of course, the Irish are known for their hospitality and conversational prowess. Dublin’s greatest draw, though, is undoubtedly its amazing nightlife, with literally thousands of pubs dotting the city – so many that it is nearly impossible to walk down any street without passing one.

For nightlife seekers, Dublin’s pub scene is the ultimate destination. The city is also the hometown of the famous Irish stout, Guinness, and is the best place on earth to spend some time sampling the draught.

Dublin has plenty of delights for the non-drinker, too, though. The city has a rich and interesting history that includes Viking origins, which can be explored in and around the ancient city centre. The city has plenty of cultural delights, too. Though perhaps not as well-known as London’s, Dublin’s arts and literature scenes are vibrant and easily accessible within the compact city centre. Especially wonderful is Temple Bar, an arts and nightlife district right in the middle of the city. With its cute cobblestone streets and delightful old shopfronts, this district is a haven of galleries, pubs, restaurants and arts centres, including the Irish Photography Museum, which is free to visitors.

Whether you choose Dublin or London depends largely on your interests and holiday time. For a break filled with cosmopolitan excitement, London is the obvious choice; while holidays overflowing with great nightlife and a friendly atmosphere, head to Dublin.
