Andorra is a small, mountainous country in the Pyrenees mountains in Europe with a population that has only 73,100. There are about 9 million tourists visit the country annually, attracted by its summer and winter resorts. Its huge ski resorts with their family – friendly slopes are on of the reaons why Andorra is popular among tourists. There is only one road entering Andorra from France and only one widely – used road enetering Andorra from Spain. Their official language is Catalan, but most everyone speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese. English is widely spoken by the people who are into tourism. Its money currency is Euro. An autonomous and semi-independent coprincipality, Andorra has been under the joint suzerainty of the French state and the Spanish bishops of Urgel since 1278. It maintains closer ties to Spain. In the late 20th century, it became a popular tourist and winter sports destination and a wealthy international commercial center because of its banking facilities, low taxes, and lack of customs duties.
In 1990 Andorra accepted a customs union treaty with the EU permitting free movement of industrial goods between the two, but with Andorra applying the EU’s peripheral tariffs to third countries. Andorra became a member of the UN in 1993 and a member of the Council of Europe in 1994. In 2002, Andorra shut down an incinerator that was emitting 1,000 times the dioxin levels permitted by the EU.
Aside from the skiing reason why most people visit Andorra’s capital, there are many other destinations and activities this city has to offer.
An assortment of restaurants serves Italian gastronomy such as pasta and pizza. If you’re an enthusiast of Italian food and seafood, you’ll love eating here. The restaurants close at 10 so be sure that you eat before that time. Restaurants have a very practical price because remember, low tax impose.
You can discover high quality items for a much cheaper price in Andorra La Vella, due to the low tax imposed on goods. Both men and woman will enjoy shopping in the capital because of the wide selections of goods, particularly jewelry and gadgets, sold in various shops.
There is also nightlife in the City. Most bars are open until 4:00am so you can find ample of places to visit. But most people in the capital do not drink until they pass out. The bar is a plain friendly place that you can chill off.

They said that it is better to enter Andorra by car as the roads in Andorra are generally of a good quality. The Spanish side roads are relatively straightforward drive than in France that has a more stressful road with many hairpin bends. But be sure that your car is in good condition because the road to Andorra is very high. But beware of black ice and snow drifts as the temperature in Andorra can be much colder than at sea level and more temperature drop when the night strikes.
In terms of landmarks and culture, the many churches and shines are mainsight. Andorra La Vella is the capital of Andorra and is a popular tourist destination for ski fanatics. Because of its high elevation (3,360 ft), the temperature in Andorra La Vella is generally cool; from 30.2 degrees Fahrenheit during colder months to 68 degrees during summer.
