Carry on London

I like this poster. I presume it's a post bombing poster. It's positive without resorting to gungho patriotism. I don't think it's a "carry on" movie poster - it's not in the bawdy carry on style.

Megabus = Oxford Tube
It turns out that The Oxford Tube takes Megabus passengers to Oxford (they are both run by Stagecoach). It didn't say this on my ticket that I printed out. So I missed the bus.
Fortunately the ticket I got was a free plus 50p booking fee ticket, otherwise I might have been upset about it all. I just took it as a 50 pence lesson in reading ticket details in the future.

Aussies Abroad II

Lubeck Airport was once a cold war era airfield which is now used by Ryanair and other holiday airlines.
There is a plaque here to honour the Royal Australian Air Force. The R.A.A.F flew over 2000 missions during the Berlin airlift between 1948-49.

chancellorless

The German elections had been and gone when I was in Hamburg and the election posters were still everywhere. At this point Deutschland is still without a new Chancellor.

London - World
I remember reading about a sign that is about half an hours drive outside of New York City that says "Welcome to America" (if there isn't one there should be). A similar sign would be apt outside of London with "Welcome to England".
Indeed I am always struck with how English the rest of England is, if I may say such an absurd statement. When living in London you can forget you are in England. It's as if the land within the M25 is it's own island nation.
Of course there are all the trimmings there that make London English, like the royal red phone and post boxes, fish and chip shops and parochial national football supporters. It is such an international city though that London feels it belongs to the world rather than England.

England Regain the Ashes - How Dreadful
At the end of the day though it is good for the game, as much as it pains me to say it. Interest has been revived here in England, and this famous rivalry over this unique trophy continues.

A cemetery worthy of Gothic London
The park is overrun with vegetation, creeping over the old tombstones. In the centre of the park is an abandoned chapel, which adds to the gothic flavour of the park. Best enjoyed on a drizzly afternoon.
