Mt. Rigi - Switzerland
Mt. Rigi in central Switzerland is a popular day trip from Lucerne. With a round trip ticket you can cross Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstattersee) on a paddle steamer, board a cog railway at Vitznau and ascend the summit, then descend via cable car to Weggis. From here you can get the paddle steamer back to Lucerne. With this trip you can sample three forms of transport in a land that excels in transport.

Rigi Kulm Bahnhof
At "only" 1,797 metres (5,895 feet) Rigi is a relative minnow compared to other mountains in the Alps. On a clear day though the views are truly spectacular.

Swiss Alps
In the summer you are surrounded by green pastures with the sound of cow bells tinkering below. The mountain is surrounded by lakes and you can see the other snow capped giants of the Alps like Jungfrau (elevation 4,158 metres - 13,642 feet).
