Adlerbastei (Eagles Bastion). From this point in 1811, Albrecht Ludwig Berblinger the 'Tailor of Ulm' made his unsuccessful attempt to fly across the Danube.
There is a plaque on this point which reads: ALBRECHT LUDWIG BERBLINGER 1770 - 1829 Versuchte Heir Im Jahr 1811 Den Ersten Segelflug Mit Selbs- Gefertigten Flugeln Max Eyth Verewigte ihn in jeinem buch "Der Schneider von Ulm" (Translated in English) ALBRECHT LUDWIG BERBLINGER 1770 - 1829 Attempted here in the year 1811 the first flight with man-made wings. Max Eyth memorialised him in a book "The Tailor of Ulm". |
