Subject: World Cricket Tsunami Appeal. Date: 17 Jan 2005 From: James Clark World Cricket Tsunami Appeal On Monday the 10th of January a cricket match was organized in Melbourne to raise funds for World Vision Australia. Over 70,000 people attended the MCG to see Asia v the Rest of the World. I went to the game and there was certainly a special atmosphere at the ground, and over 15 million AUD was raised on the night. The Asian XI (consisting of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) were beaten by the Rest of the world XI (Australia, New Zealand, England, West Indies), but to coin a tired cliche, everyone was a winner that night. A return match will be played next month in either India or Sri Lanka.
