Liverpool is this years "European Capital of Culture" (sharing the honour with Stavanger and Sandnes in Norway).
Holding the European Capital of Culture title can be a catalyst of urban regeneration for some cities, such as happened for Glasgow, which was European Capital of Culture in 1990.
