7 Most Important Holy Sites Of Israel

If you have ever visited any sacred places, you should understand how important they are. While there, you can feel the extraordinary powers and mystery they possess. They already hold a sense of beauty like no any other places.

And these characteristics are generated over a long period of times. The cultures that portray them have cared for the places for centuries.

In Israel, such places are always a point of contentment as well as debate. All the three monotheistic religions find these places a great source of inspiration. And the same interest is shown among other sects within the religions.

It is always great when you visit any part of Israel and get a chance to witness these wonders. With the services of a great escorted tours company, you will have the best experience of your life. The following seven places are the most important ones; you cannot miss visiting them.

1. The western wall

This is a great and vast wall that was built by Herod. The wall is situated in Jerusalem around the Temple Mountain. Standing from the Second Temple complex, this amazing feature will definitely leave you breathless. This wall is a testimony to the physical nature of ancient Jewish religion. It is a symbol of how the Jews are rooted in Israel.

2. Dome of the Rock

This is one of the most ancient Islamic shrines built in AD 691. It covers the rock on which the First and Second Temples are believed to have been founded. The Jews believe that this is the same rock that Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac. The Islamic religion, however, believes that it was Ishmael and not Isaac who was called for sacrifice. Ishmael is the founder of the Islamic religion.

Islamic religion also believes that Prophet Mohammed ascended to glimpse heaven from the same stone.

3. Al Aqsa Mosque

This is the third most important prayer place for Muslims’ prayer. It comes after Mecca and Medina. The mosque is found in Jerusalem, far southern side of the Temple Mountain.

4. Church of the Holy Sepulcher

This the holiest place for Christianity. It is situated in Jerusalem and covers the traditional sites for the transfiguration of Jesus. The place was built in A.D 330. It is sub-divided among the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Coptic, Syrian and the Ethiopian churches.

5. Mount of Olives

The Mountain of Olives stands in Jerusalem, overlooking the city from the east. You will see the entire city from this Holy Mountain. Jesus stood here to weep or Jerusalem.

6. Baha’i Gardens

The Baha’i faith holds this place secret because it has the tomb of its founder. It is found at the northern edge of Akko. The religion considers it the holiest place.

7. The church of the Nativity

This is the place in Jerusalem that marks where Jesus was born. The Persians spared it during the A.D 614 invasion, therefore stands as the oldest church in this Holy Land.

These are the seven most important holy places in Israel. Enjoy the view!
