Italy has it all, from Venice to Rome

March 5, 2012 By itravelnet.com

If you are looking for a country that offers everything you could possibly look for in a travel destination without breaking the bank, then there can be no better place to go than Italy.

Whether you are looking to explore Rome, Naples, Milan, or maybe even flights to Venice, wherever you head to in this beautiful country there can be few locations where you will be disappointed.

Whatever you are looking for from your holiday, by visiting Italy you will be sure to find it. Culture vultures will be delighted by the sights that historic Rome and Venice have to offer. From the Coliseum and the Vatican, Rome never disappoints, while Venice – the city on stilts – is not just romantic, but a destination that oozes culture at every turn.

But what else makes Italy such a great destination for travellers?

Perhaps what makes Italy such a great place to visit is the fact that travelling there can be extremely affordable. Flights to Rome and many other Italian destinations are very affordable throughout the year, while there are a number of good accommodation options from which to choose, ranging from Agro-Turismo – small, budget B&Bs in the countryside, to city-centre hotels, campsites and hostels.

Eat for Less

Once you reach Italy, most travellers from the UK will find that money goes a little further than they first thought too. Eating out Italian style can be far cheaper than what you’d pay for an Italian meal back home – and will be far, far nicer. Large, authentic Italian thin-crust pizzas can cost as little as 4 Euros in certain spots, while many wines in Italy are relatively inexpensive too.

Drink for Less

Perhaps one of the most popular Italian red wines is Chianti, from Tuscany. It is a great, light red renowned across the world. Chianti and other regional red wines sell for far less in Italy than you’d expect to pay for a glass back home, even in heavy tourist areas.

If you are travelling on a budget and are unsure of what wine you would like, simply say ‘Vino Rosso (red) della cassa’ and you will receive the house wine, often in a carafe– more often than not it is a fantastic local variety. Hangovers are optional.

Whatever you get up to on holiday, few people regret indulging in all that Italy has to offer.
