Sports Stadiums That Every Sports Fan Must Visit

Sports Stadiums That Every Sports Fan Must Visit

If you are a sports fan, you should most certainly consider visiting some of the cities around the world that have amazing stadiums.

Sporting venues can offer exceptional architecture, rich history, and a breathtaking experience. On top of that, many of them are located in cities that have much more to offer.

Let’s take a look at the best sports stadiums in the world and why you should visit them.

Madison Square Garden, New York City

It’s hard to start the list of suggestions with any other sports arena than Madison Square Garden. The legendary venue is located in New York City and is one of the symbols of the city. It hosts National League basketball and hockey games for the local New York Knicks and New York Rangers.

You can also regularly watch the most exciting boxing and UFC fights in Madison Square Garden, as well as concerts of the biggest music stars and popular shows of all kinds.

If you can get your hands on tickets for any of them, you won’t regret it. Naturally, part of the appeal of the stadium is the city around it. New York hardly needs an introduction and you can rest assured you will enjoy your visit there.

Wembley, London

Soccer fans simply need to go to Wembley at least once in their lifetime. The English stadium is considered to be the home of the game by many. It was renovated in 2007, so it combines history with modern-day architecture that should please even the most demanding tourists.

Wembley currently hosts the home games of the English national side, the FA Cup semi-finals and final, the League Cup final, and other matches. You could also enjoy various concerts and performances.

Even if you don’t have the chance to attend an actual event, Wembley is still worth a visit. The museum there is fascinating and the venue is located in London. The English capital is among the most iconic cities in Europe, so you won’t regret it.

Panathenaic Stadium, Athens

The Panathenaic Stadium in Athens is by far the oldest arena on this list. Its history can be traced back to Ancient Greece, as it was first built circa 330 BC. That’s right, that’s close to 2,500 years ago!

The stadium was used for the Ancient Olympic Games, so it was only fitting that it was renovated for the first edition of the modern ones too. The Panathenaic Stadium is where the Athens Summer Olympics of 1896 were held and the venue was again part of the games in 2004.

It’s the only stadium in the world that’s built entirely by marble which is another reason to go to Athens and see it. If you feel the stadium is not enough of a reason to visit the capital of Greece, just think of all the other historical monuments that are located there.

Ericsson Globe, Stockholm

If you love both sports and architecture, the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm is a stadium that you most certainly have to visit. The venue is a true miracle of the modern world and the biggest hemispherical in the entire world.

The shape represents the Solar System and the stadium features a breathtaking Skyview that allows you to see the entire Stockholm.

The Ericsson Globe hosts mostly ice hockey games but also concerts, shows, and even Esports events. This venue will feature the biggest Esports tournament ever in 2020 where the International will award a prize pool of more than $30 million.

Final Words

If you want to attend a sporting event or a concert at any of these great stadiums, you should probably start planning early. Most of the tickets sell out quickly, so you may need several months to organize the perfect vacation.
