Staying in the Algarve

July 19, 2011 By itravelnet.com

Algarve is said to be Europe’s sunniest spot, so naturally it is a great place to go for a holiday. Situated in the south of Portugal, the fantastic beaches coupled with the history of traditional Portugal makes Algarve a very desirable destination.

Scenic Mediterranean coast will beckon you in and the gorgeous valleys and mountain landscapes will amaze. As well as this amazing natural beauty, the beach resorts and towns are very popular.

There are a lot of different types of accommodation in Algarve. For example, take the town of Albufeira, said to have some of the best beaches in Portugal. Here you will find tourist apartments, such as the Apartments Novochoro. These are located only a short distance away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, near new golf courses and a 10 minute walk from the main center of night entertainment in Albufeira. This town also offers hotels rooms, spa hotels and much more.

In the exclusive area of Vale do Lobo, you will find the Ria Park Hotel & Spa Almancil. Surrounded by a brilliant green valley and with a view of the Atlantic Ocean and its surrounding beaches, elegance and charm meets modern facilities in this beautiful location. The rooms of the hotel follow a Mediterranean theme with light colours and open balconies or terraces. There is a swimming pool and a traditional Portuguese and international restaurant, to make your stay even more delicious.

If you enjoy hustle and bustle, the town of Faro is a must see while in the Algarve. It is the administrative center of the whole region and has a population of over 55,000 people. Here, you can find both Roman and Arab ruins, as well as old buildings constructed after the earthquakes of 1532 and 1755. Especially interesting is the old part of the city, still surrounded by Roman walls. Here, a 13th Century Cathedral and the 16th century Episcopal Palace stand majestic. There is an archaeological museum as well as a lot of other great things to see and do.

The Algarve has amazing weather, beautiful beaches and interesting history. So why not plan a trip to visit one of the most beautiful areas in Portugal.
