Day 1 – Arrival in Paradise
The first glimpse of Croatia from the air feels like the beginning of an adventure. Below, the Adriatic Sea stretches endlessly, scattered with hundreds of islands, each promising hidden coves, ancient villages and crystal-clear water. By the time we arrive at the marina, the excitement is impossible to ignore. Our home for the week is waiting: a comfortable catamaran with wide decks, plenty of space to relax, and the freedom to explore wherever the wind and mood take us.
After a relaxed check-in and a quick introduction to the boat, we stock up with fresh bread, local fruit, seafood and everything needed for the week ahead. There is something magical about leaving the busy world behind, stepping onto the deck and realising that your only plans are the sea, the sunshine and the next beautiful anchorage.
That evening, we enjoy our first meal overlooking the marina, watching the sun disappear behind the islands. Tomorrow, the real adventure begins.
Day 2 – Setting Sail for Hidden Bays
Morning arrives with the gentle movement of the boat and the sound of the sea. After breakfast on deck, coffee in hand, we cast off and begin our journey through one of the world’s most beautiful sailing regions.
A catamaran is the perfect way to experience Croatia. There is no rushing from place to place and no need to follow a strict itinerary. The twin hulls provide stability, comfort and plenty of room to spread out. While the children swim from the back platform, others relax on the trampoline at the front, feeling the breeze as we glide between islands.
Our destination is a quiet bay surrounded by pine trees and rocky cliffs. Dropping anchor in water so clear that the seabed is visible several metres below feels almost unreal. The afternoon disappears with swimming, paddleboarding, snorkelling and exploring the shoreline.
As the sun sets, we enjoy dinner cooked onboard, followed by a quiet evening under a sky full of stars. Away from the crowds, Croatia feels completely untouched.
Day 3 – Island Villages and Local Life
One of the joys of sailing Croatia is discovering places that cannot easily be reached by car. After breakfast, we sail towards a small island village where stone houses line the waterfront and fishing boats bob gently in the harbour.
Walking through narrow streets, we discover family-run restaurants, small bakeries and hidden squares where locals gather. Lunch is simple but unforgettable: freshly grilled fish, local olive oil, homemade bread and a glass of Croatian wine.
The afternoon is spent exploring the coastline. We find another secluded swimming spot and spend hours in the warm Adriatic, surrounded by nothing but nature. The pace of life changes quickly when you are sailing. There is no need to check the time, no traffic, no rush — just the rhythm of the sea.
Day 4 – Adventure on the Water
Midweek brings a sense of confidence. Everyone has settled into the sailing lifestyle. Breakfast is prepared together, swims become part of the daily routine and every new destination feels like discovering a secret.
Today we sail further, chasing the perfect combination of wind and sunshine. The catamaran picks up speed, cutting smoothly through the blue water. Dolphins are sometimes spotted alongside the boat, and seabirds follow our journey across the islands.
Later, we anchor near a deserted beach. The water is warm, the scenery breathtaking and the only decision to make is whether to swim, snorkel or relax with a book on deck.
That evening we visit a small waterfront restaurant, arriving by dinghy as the sun sets. Tables sit just metres from the sea, and dinner is made from ingredients caught or grown nearby. It is exactly the kind of authentic Croatian experience that makes the holiday unforgettable.
Day 5 – Ancient Towns and Golden Sunsets
No Croatian sailing holiday is complete without visiting one of the country’s historic island towns. Sailing into a harbour surrounded by centuries-old stone buildings is a spectacular experience.
We spend the day wandering through ancient streets, discovering local shops and enjoying ice creams beside the waterfront. The beauty of Croatia is the contrast between history and nature — one moment you are exploring a medieval town, the next you are swimming in a deserted turquoise bay.
Back on the catamaran, the evening becomes a highlight of the week. Everyone gathers on deck as the sun slowly sinks into the horizon, painting the sky orange and pink. These are the moments that stay with you long after the holiday ends.
Day 6 – One Last Hidden Cove
With only a couple of days left, we slow the pace even further. We find a peaceful anchorage away from the main routes and spend the day enjoying everything the boat offers.
There are games on deck, long swims, paddleboarding adventures and plenty of time simply doing nothing. The beauty of a catamaran holiday is that every day can be exactly what you want it to be.
As night falls, we sit together beneath the stars, knowing that this is a rare kind of freedom — waking up somewhere beautiful every morning and choosing your own adventure.
Day 7 – Returning with Memories
The final morning arrives too quickly. We sail gently back towards the marina, passing the islands that have been our playground for the past week.
Although the journey is ending, the memories remain: hidden beaches, warm seas, family laughter, incredible food and the feeling of escaping to a simpler way of life.
A Croatian catamaran sailing holiday is more than just a trip. It is a chance to reconnect, explore at your own pace and experience one of the world’s most stunning coastlines from the best possible viewpoint — the deck of your own floating home.
