How to Work and Be a Full-Time Traveler

In the modern era, it has become relatively common for people to quit their steady jobs to travel the world. As exciting as it might sound to quit your job and follow your passion for travel, it can be equally unnerving. It might seem like a major challenge to sustain this type of lifestyle, and it definitely can be if you do not know what you are doing. However, if you understand how to make money while traveling, you can most definitely accomplish this goal. Here are a few ideas that can help you make money and travel at the same time:

1. Teach English

If you are a native English speaker, then one of the most viable ways to make money while traveling is to teach English. This is an excellent idea if you want to travel in Southeast Asia or China, where there is a huge demand for English teachers. There are several established programs available in numerous countries, so all you need to do is apply and then you can go teach.

2. Take Stock Photographs

If you are passionate about photography, you can easily make a living off of this hobby by taking photos and selling them online. You can make money licensing your photographs for use in commercial marketing campaigns, or for editorial use by media outlets. Every time someone licenses your photo, you will earn money. Taking stock photographs is a great way to make money as new websites, designers and advertisers have an immense demand for photos. Make sure your photographs are high quality and capture the essence of the destination.

3. Freelance

Freelancing is working part-time on your own schedule without having to commit yourself to one particular employer. There is copious amounts of freelancing work available in numerous fields online. Some of these fields include data entry, research, paralegal work, transcription, search engine optimization, social media optimization, coding, virtual assistant work, customer service, accounting, data mining, human resources and many more. Identify a skill that you are great at and apply on freelancing websites like Elance and Freelancer.

4. Travel Blog

If you are a talented writer, you can share your travel stories and experiences on your personal travel blog. There are various ways to make money through travel blogging. Some of the ways include advertising hosting sponsored content on your blog or even freelance writing for third party media outlets. However, these strategies will only work if you have a large following for your blog, so get started on your blog before trying to make money with it. While travel blogging may initially just be an extra source of income, you can eventually turn it into a full-time job if you strategize properly.

5. Work Remotely

If your job does not require you to work in an office, then you may be able to work from your computer, allowing you to make money from anywhere in the world. Doing this is risk-free – you can maintain your job, and you still have the ability to travel. All you need is a stable Internet connection and you will be able to achieve this objective.

6. Vlog

The popularity of YouTube has spawned a vast amount of Internet celebrities who make a living off of their vlogs. As a full-time traveler, you could launch your own YouTube channel where you share your travel stories in your videos. There are a myriad of ways to make money off vlogging. Some of these methods include affiliate marketing, product placement as well as YouTube’s own publisher platform. However, you should understand that some of these strategies (like product placement and endorsements) have government regulations that you need to abide by. Check with a lawyer before you choose to make money through these resources.
