What to do if you’re on holiday and you think you might be pregnant

November 12, 2012 By itravelnet.com

Being on holiday won’t stop nature taking its course. Whatever your feelings about the prospect of being pregnant, it’s important that you act in the right manner from the very beginning.

Wherever you are will be well equipped and provided with whatever you may need, so don’t panic.

Knowing for sure

You should make sure that you’re sufficiently relaxed, at ease and confident that you have everything you need at hand before you decide to find out whether or not your suspicions of pregnancy are right. If your partner is on holiday with you, then include him in the process. If not, maybe include a friend.

The easiest way to test if you’re pregnant is to get a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests are easy to use and give fairly accurate results very quickly. They are not too expensive and pretty easy to get hold of, regardless of where you are.

Don’t stop enjoying yourself

Just because you’re away from home, this doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy your holiday. There’s no need to feel you have to rush home – you can, and should, continue enjoying your trip for as long as you want to.

With a bit of extra planning, you’ll make your time away as stress-free as a regular holiday. The easiest way to do this is to leave plenty of time for everything. This means you don’t have to worry about being late to catch planes and trains, getting lost, getting stuck in traffic jams or extra toilet stops to accommodate your potential pregnancy symptoms of frequent urination and morning sickness.

It’s obviously important that you stop drinking and cut down or stop smoking as soon as you think you might be pregnant. However, you can still enjoy relaxing in the sun or exploring new towns and villages as normal.

Avoiding any strenuous activities is important. If you were planning on a lot of walking or playing sport, make sure you set aside ample time for rests and breaks. You shouldn’t tire yourself out and put any extra stress on your body. Take time to look around the place you’re visiting and absorb the atmosphere. It’s also a good idea to make sure there is food and drink available as often as possible should you need it.

Stay organised

Write lists of everything you may need and expect to be delayed. This way you shouldn’t forget anything and any delays will give you a chance to get into a book or listen to some good music. If things do run smoothly, it will seem like an added bonus.
